Wi-Fi QR code generator
Make a QR code guests scan to join your Wi-Fi, with the network name and password in big letters beside it. The code is made in your browser, and a plain link never sends your network details to us.
Change the password without touching the screen
Put it live on a screen that’s always on. When the password changes, update it from your phone and the screen and its QR code follow within seconds.
How a Wi-Fi QR code works
The code holds your network name, password and security type in the standard format phone cameras understand. Point the camera at it and the phone offers to join, so nobody types a long password or asks the staff.
Show it on a TV in a café, a tablet at reception or a screen in a holiday rental. To put it on paper, open it fullscreen and take a screenshot.
Put it on a TV
- Make it above. The preview is exactly what the screen shows.
- Open it on the screen. Press Open fullscreen on that device, or send yourself the link. For a TV with a free account, open ownscreen.com/tv and enter its code on your phone.
- Leave it running. It fits any screen size and asks the screen to stay on.
Questions
- Is my password safe?
- Anyone who can see the screen can read it, as with a printed card. A plain link keeps everything after the # in the browser, so it never reaches our servers.
- Which phones can scan it?
- The camera on recent iPhones and Android phones offers to join the network.
- Can the password contain symbols?
- Yes. It shows exactly as typed, and the QR code escapes characters like ; and : for you.
