OwnScreen

Random team generator

Paste a list of names, choose how many teams, and shuffle. The teams show fullscreen on the projector or TV, so everyone can find their group.

Free, no account needed. The link holds the whole sign.

Teams in one click, shown to the whole room

Split a class into groups, a staff day into breakout teams or a games night into sides. Shuffle puts the names in random order, and they’re dealt into teams one at a time, so team sizes differ by one at most.

The preview is exactly what the screen shows. Not happy with a split? Shuffle again before you open it, or move a name in the list yourself.

Put it on a TV

  1. Make it above. The preview is exactly what the screen shows.
  2. Open it on the screen. Press Open fullscreen on that device, or send yourself the link. For a TV with a free account, open ownscreen.com/tv and enter its code on your phone.
  3. Leave it running. It fits any screen size and asks the screen to stay on.

Questions

How are the teams made?
Shuffle puts the list in random order, then names are dealt round the teams in turn: first name to team 1, second to team 2, and so on.
Can I keep certain people apart?
Yes. After shuffling, edit the list order by hand; the teams follow the order of the names.
Are the names uploaded anywhere?
No. The teams travel in the link after the #, which stays in the browser.
