Melbourne Cup sweep
Draw the office Melbourne Cup sweep on the big screen: each person steps up, a tap draws their horse number, and the board shows every horse already taken. Free, with no app.
An office sweep everyone can watch
In a sweep, each person is given one horse in the race, and the person holding the winner takes the prize the group agreed on. The Melbourne Cup is run on the first Tuesday of November, with a field of up to 24 horses.
Put the draw on the TV in the office or the pub. Each person steps up and taps, a horse number flicks past and lands, and the board underneath lists every number already drawn, so nobody gets the same horse. Write down who drew which number. Once the field is final, swap the range for the saddlecloth numbers that are still running, or paste the horse names.
This page only draws. It takes no entries and handles no money. If your sweep has a buy-in, keep it small and check your workplace’s rules and your state’s rules for prize draws.
Put it on a TV
- Make it above. The preview is exactly what the screen shows.
- Open it on the screen. Press Open fullscreen on that device, or send yourself the link. For a TV with an account, open ownscreen.com/tv and enter its code on your phone.
- Leave it running. It fits any screen size and asks the screen to stay on.
Questions
- What if more than 24 people join?
- Once every horse is drawn, the next tap starts a second round, so a second person gets each horse again. Or run two sweeps with two links.
- What about scratched horses?
- Before you draw, type only the numbers still in the race, one per line, or paste the horse names. A horse that is scratched after the draw is up to your group’s own rule.
- Can I use it for other races?
- Yes. It draws from any range or list, so it suits the Caulfield Cup, the Grand National or the Kentucky Derby too. Change the heading and the horses.
