Cheaper alternatives to Yodeck and OptiSigns for one screen

What Yodeck and OptiSigns charge per screen in October 2026, what OwnScreen charges per account, and the jobs where their paid tiers are the better buy.

Yes, there are cheaper alternatives to Yodeck and OptiSigns for a small business, and the biggest one is not a product: it is the way the price is counted. Yodeck and OptiSigns charge per screen, while OwnScreen charges per account, so the gap widens with every TV you add. For one screen playing text and notices, Starter at US$4.99 a month or US$49.90 a year is less than either competitor's cheapest paid tier. If the screen has to play video or run a library of apps, their paid tiers are the right buy and no cheaper option replaces them.

Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026 and are in US dollars.

Service Cheapest paid tier What it includes
OwnScreen Starter, US$4.99 a month or US$49.90 a year One live screen, changed from your phone. Pro is US$14.99 a month or US$149.90 a year for up to five, Business US$29.99 a month or US$299.90 a year for up to twenty. The price is per account, not per screen.
Yodeck Basic, $8 per screen per month billed annually Video, images, YouTube, web pages, basic scheduling and playlists. Premium is $12 and Enterprise $16 per screen per month.
OptiSigns Standard, $10 per screen per month, $9 billed annually 25 apps are included on the free plan and more on paid tiers. Pro Plus is $15 per screen per month, $13.50 billed annually. Engage $30, Enterprise $45 with a minimum of 25 screens.
DigitalSignage.com Plus+, from $3 per screen per month Its free tier covers up to 3 screens if you supply the player; from the fourth screen every screen is billed.
Xibo Free if you host the server yourself Open source, with Xibo Cloud hosting paid per display.

What the difference looks like per year

For one screen, Yodeck Basic comes to $96 a year billed annually and OptiSigns Standard to $108 a year at the annual rate. OwnScreen Starter is US$49.90 a year.

For three screens, Yodeck Basic is $288 a year and OptiSigns Standard is $324 a year. OwnScreen Pro, at US$149.90 a year, covers up to five live screens.

The pattern holds because one price covers the account. If you run a single screen in a shop window and a second in a back office, you are still on one Pro plan rather than two subscriptions.

When to stay with Yodeck or OptiSigns

Cheaper is only better when it does the job. Stay, or choose them in the first place, when:

  • The screen plays video. Yodeck and OptiSigns play video; OwnScreen does not, at any price. A video wall is not a negotiation, it is a different product.
  • You want a widget library. Weather, feeds, social posts, dashboards and hundreds of apps are what their paid tiers are for. OwnScreen shows the text, image, QR code and countdown you give it.
  • You need proof-of-play. Yodeck lists playback reports and player screenshots, which answer "did this advert run?" OwnScreen counts article views and tool use, not screen impressions.
  • You want their player hardware. A Yodeck annual plan includes a free Yodeck Player or a discount if you use your own device.
  • You already have a Windows PC, a Raspberry Pi or an Android player at the screen. OptiSigns allows those on its free plan, and DigitalSignage.com expects you to bring one.

What OwnScreen does with the money you save

The editor and every display link are free and need no account, so the cost of trying it is a browser tab. Paying turns a saved sign into a live screen: open its link on the TV once, or use Pair a TV and enter the six-digit code on your phone, then change the message from the dashboard. A visible, connected screen picks up a change within about three seconds, and if the internet drops it keeps showing what it has until the connection returns.

Pro adds schedules, uploaded images and a broadcast to all your live screens. Business adds groups of screens, planned broadcasts and screen status. Every plan starts with a 2-day free trial with no card, and a one-off event pass gives you Pro for 3 days for US$9 if you only need it for a weekend.

Decide with the job, not the discount

Write down what the screen must do this week. If the list is text, a menu, a number, a welcome, a QR code or a photograph, OwnScreen Starter or Pro is the cheaper answer and the setup is a browser. If the list includes video, widgets or reports, budget for Yodeck or OptiSigns per screen and stop looking for a cheaper way to do it.
