Random name picker
Paste your class list and pick a name at random on the projector, smartboard or TV. Nobody is picked twice until everyone has had a turn.
A fair way to choose who goes next
Teachers use it to cold-call fairly, choose who presents first or hand out jobs. Teams use it for stand-up order, and hosts use it to draw a giveaway winner in front of the room.
Open it fullscreen and click, tap or press Space to pick. Names flick past for a couple of seconds, then one lands. Each name comes up once before anyone is picked again; reloading the page starts a fresh round.
Put it on a TV
- Make it above. The preview is exactly what the screen shows.
- Open it on the screen. Press Open fullscreen on that device, or send yourself the link. For a TV with a free account, open ownscreen.com/tv and enter its code on your phone.
- Leave it running. It fits any screen size and asks the screen to stay on.
Questions
- How do I pick a name on the big screen?
- Open it fullscreen, then click, tap or press Space or Enter. On a TV, the remote’s OK button usually works too.
- Will the same name come up twice?
- Not until every name has been picked once. Then a new round starts with the whole list.
- Are the names uploaded anywhere?
- No. The list stays in the link after the #, which the browser keeps to itself. Nothing is stored on our servers.
